Vault is Modern's privacy layer for AR data: it tokenizes and encrypts sensitive PII in an isolated store above the platform. You own the keys, set access, and can erase all your data at once by revoking the key.
With Vault Standard, Modern manages the keys and you get the isolated store and tokenization. With Vault BYOK, you supply your own keys and keep full data sovereignty, and not even Modern’s engineers can read your PII.
Once you revoke your encryption key, every tokenized record is permanently unreadable, immediately and in every system. Nothing to scrub by hand, and a deletion certificate is issued for your compliance records.
